EventPro Strategies’ Client Civic Entertainment Executes High-Profile Marketing Stunt for the NHL Playoffs in New York City’s Times Square! | Print |

EventPro Strategies is thrilled to have taken part in a recent promotional stunt by Civic Entertainment for the National Hockey League’s 2012 Playoffs. Civic worked with NBC Sports in building a giant replica of hockey’s Stanley Cup which was positioned in the middle of Times Square for three days. While the replica was remarkable simply standing 21-feet high and weighing 6,600 pounds, it also functioned as a working water fountain, pumping water for passers-by to sample with promotional cups that were distributed throughout the crowd. EPS provided a team of ten brand ambassadors who worked in the area of the fountain, interacting with the crowd and generating interest in the Stanley Cup replica. In addition, EPS hired talent to wear suits and deliver the life-size chocolate Stanley Cup replicas to various radio stations to raise interest and excitement for the event.

EPS is proud to work with Civic Entertainment on such an exciting and unique street promotion! As far as event staffing goes, this event was a clear winner!

Street teams are an excellent way to reach your potential client base while ensuring your message spreads accurately and quickly. Unlike typical print marketing, where companies share their products through a medium such as billboards, street promotion utilizes an organized group of people to interact and spread their message in a public place.

 

Street promotion dates back to 1975, when record labels shared mix tapes and flyers from unknown artists as a way to spread their name and talent. What started as a group of teenagers advertising for their favorite band has turned into a guerilla marketing tactic for companies of all sizes. Street promotion companies often give their audience tickets to events or coupons for products for signing up or even just engaging with the team.

In order to plan a marketing event, companies must look for public places such as shopping malls, sporting events, concerts, cultural events, fairs, parks, or even sidewalks in high traffic areas. The company must then assemble a team and come up with a creative and memorable campaign that includes takeaways. Oprah Winfrey is one of history’smost admired and well-known celebrities, not only in television but in the world. It was with much excitement that EventPro Strategies, the leader in experiential marketing staffing and execution, provided talent to support the Oprah Lifeclass Tour at the Peabody Opera House in St. Louis, Missouri. The EPS team successfully embodied the Oprah brand, greeting event attendees with warmth as they listened to the stories of many of those who attended the event. People drove to St. Louis from all over the country for the opportunity to join the Lifeclass taping. In addition, as pictured, the EPS team featured three outstanding staff members for the event who also represented three generations of one family!

Oprah's Lifeclass is a self-help program that features interviews with guests and audience members from episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Broadcasted on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, Lifeclass showcases "all of Oprah's lessons, revelations and ‘aha’ moments over the past 25 years."[1]
